From May to October, Attica enjoys temperatures in the 20s. July and August are the hottest months with an average daily maximum of 33°C and up to twelve hours of sunshine a day. From November, temperatures cool, with highs of 18 degrees; average rainfall increases to 75mm and sunshine decreases to just five hours a day. January is the coldest of all with highs of just 13 degrees. 

One major plus about owning a property in Athens is that it will be straightforward to get to, no matter the time of year. While many of the Greek islands have only seasonal international flights, Athens does not.

Today, it is a maze of pedestrianised streets featuring cafes, bars, shops, and museums, including the Acropolis Museum.

Kolonsaki

Nestled on the slopes of one of Athens’ tallest hills, Kolonsaki is an upscale neighbourhood in Athens. It is known for its café culture, high-end shopping and its cultural attractions, including the Benaki Museum. Many overseas buyers and diplomats choose to live here. 

Exarcheia

Near the University of Athens, Exarcheia attracts students and artists to its streets. It is made up vintage and second-hand shops, bars serving budget-friendly drinks, a lively farmers’ market and the National Archaeological Museum. The streets are also vibrantly covered in graffiti and street art. 

Glyfada 

The unofficial capital of the Athens Rivera, Glyfada is a glitzy neighbourhood. It is home to several sandy beaches; Metaxa Street, a long, open-air shopping strip; and an 18-hole open-air golf course. If you are seeking a property on the beach, then Voula has a similar vibe. 

Psirri 

Psirri has had a transformation in recent years but retains an old-fashioned village feel. Here, you’ll find lovely old Greek taverns, galleries and a host of artisan shops.
