Description

Furnished and equipped 3 bedroom villa, with 8x2.7 swimming pool, with electric thermal cover, garage and garden, 3km from the center of the spa town of Caldas da Rainha, on the Portuguese Silver Coast. It was a Tuesday morning and the Gears had just arrived in Caldas da Rainha for a new stage in their lives, attracted by the tranquility of the West Zone and by the charms and quality of life, because this city was their choice.

They knew about the famous beaches in the region, all different and each with a unique charm. They were vaguely aware of the story of Queen Leonor and her passion for the city's hot medicinal baths. They could hardly wait to meet the vain peacock that strolls through the Portuguese cobblestone streets, indifferent to the surprise and euphoria of the children and the many photographs that everyone takes of him.

When he is in a hurry to eat his vegetables at the fruit market, which has become the city's symbol, he doesn't "talk" to the surprised people and continues on his way. There, flavors, colors, aromas and shapes mix with the joy of visitors and the friendliness of vendors, proud of the quality and freshness of the products harvested just a few hours before.

After shopping for lunch: fresh fish, homemade bread, lots of salads and fruit, they returned home to start enjoying their “new house, new life”, as they say here. The kids set the table outside, the mother took care of the salads and juices, while the father was in charge of grilling. While waiting for the grilled fish, the children and Boby had fun diving and laughing in the generous pool.

Did you already know that there are several public and private schools, a cinema, a skate park, a green park with activities and plenty of space for cycling and scootering? At the end of the summer, they would be attending a new school and making new friends, which they couldn't wait for. They had an early dinner in Foz do Arelho, in front of the beautiful beach and Óbidos Lagoon, while watching a sunset of orange and red tones.

That night, the little Gears went to bed early and agreed to describe their new home to the little friends they left behind: We have a three-bedroom house, with lots of natural light coming in through the wide balconies, a large swimming pool, a closed garage to store our bikes and skates and a well-kept garden with space to plant some trees, a palm tree, aromatic herbs and organic strawberries, our own vegetable garden.

We will also plant tulips and roses. The parents' bedroom is a suite with a walk-in closet and two more bedrooms with built-in wardrobes, one for each of us and two more bathrooms. The house has a very functional layout. Entering through the main armored door or the garage, we arrive at the entrance hall and the social area, which is all open plan with the kitchen and the covered porch for my father's barbecue, where we eat our meals and play cards.

The house is very comfortable, has air conditioning, electric shutters, double video with thermal break and windows that open in two positions: they call it tilt and turn. We walked to a big supermarket called Pingo Doce to buy ready-made food and choose new sheets for our beds. The former owner left us duvets, bath towels, some paintings, all the cutlery, pots, plates, everything...

The mother is very happy with the fridge freezer and we have been using the dishwasher, washing machine, coffee machine and food maker. Dad loves the barbecue. We also have a dryer in the garage. The house has a lot of equipment that we are still discovering little by little. We have already taken some walks in the urbanization and the neighbors are all very friendly.

We already know that the center of Caldas da Rainha is 3km away, the bay of S. Martinho do Porto is 10km away, the beach of Foz do Arelho is 12km away, Óbidos is 11km away, the beach of Baleal is 30 minutes away and we arrive at Lisbon airport in less than an hour. We love our house and the area which is very beautiful. Contact me quickly and earn a dream life on the Portuguese Silver Coast. #ref: 138655

The exchange rate on the day you make an offer on your property in Portugal will not be the same as the rate you pay when you complete on your purchase, as currency markets move constantly. Any large rate movements may take it beyond your price range as the chart above illustrates the fluctuation and how much extra your property could have cost you.

The best way to avoid this significant risk is to plan your budget and currency strategy with an experienced currency specialist. They have been known to save you up to 4% compared to many high street banks, £4,000 for every £100,000, which soon adds up. They will also keep you up to date on market movements, help you set a rate in advance with a product called a Forward Contract - so you know exactly what you will pay for your property in sterling.

This is why we recommend Smart Currency Exchange Ltd. If exchange rate movements continue to be as unpredictable and as significant as they have been in the past then by not using Smart Currency Exchange Ltd your property could cost you £9,209 more.
