It was in the parish of Achadinha that the Liberal troops from Terceira landed, in the final assault against the last Miguelista stronghold in the Azores, on August 1, 1831. As it turns out, the population of the parish will have received poorly the liberal troops.

The Historical Standard existing in the parish - erected in 1957, with a tile taken from a small hermitage dedicated to St. Benedict, which existed previously on the site where today the Parish Church of Our Lady of the Rosary appears. The Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, building of the century. XVI, as elsewhere in this county, was remodeled several times, the last being interventions of 1830, and later in 1882.

It has the main body divided into three naves and the altarpiece of the high altar is gilded, carved in 1734. Although humble, this carving is vibrantly derailed this beautiful temple. Da Achadinha came out illustrious names of the lyrics, such as João de Melo and Adelaide Freitas. In honor of the novelist João de Melo, the municipality recovered the writer's old family home, adapting it to Casa de Cultura.
