The former is very large, L-shaped, and designed to take full advantage of Sicily's 300 annual days of sunshine. Morning sun comes streaming in through the wall to the east, which has been fully glazed with a sliding door that opens onto a roomy balcony.

The views of the valley make the perfect breakfast backdrop. The wall to the south has no windows, but glass bricks have been liberally added into the wall, allowing beautiful patterns of light to play out across the room all throughout the day. The bedroom has a garden view, and although it is much smaller than the kitchen-living room, it has plenty of storage space in the form of an alcove closet.
