2050, a farmhouse in the Lazio hinterland in Soriano nel Cimino, the air smells of grills, children's laughter, dogs running. From our rocking chairs we admire the sunset that lights up the horizon between the olive and hazelnut trees. Another summer is coming to an end, it seems incredible, 25 years have already passed since we arranged to visit this property that has completely changed our lives.

We had decided that as soon as the last of our children began his university course, we would change our lives. The job in the bank, which had allowed us not only to get to know each other, but to create a family and live well, had been too small for years. We needed each other, to discover each other, to find each other again.

One rainy Sunday we read the ad for a property in Soriano nel Cimino a few kilometers from Viterbo. The ad says "Farmhouse surrounded by nature and with almost 6 hectares of land. The farmhouse is made up of a main structure where, in addition to the two-bedroom apartment, there are 3 rooms on the ground floor used as a restaurant, a kitchen and 2 large rooms with bathroom for guests.

A short distance away is a small building with two more bedrooms with bathroom. Everything in excellent condition and ready to be yours . We decide to schedule a visit for the following week and before Christmas the property is ours. I have always wanted to cook, I have taken several courses over the years, but until that day mine was a hobby with which to brighten up the evenings with friends and family.

My wife? Well, she dreamed of a dog breeding farm and of going horse riding. And here we are, we have spent another fantastic summer with our guests, our children and grandchildren have joined us and these days they are occupying all the rooms of the farmhouse I look at Marta, I move a white lock of hair from her face, I am not surprised that her hair is damp, my first gift for her when we first arrived here was to build a swimming pool, one of her greatest wishes.

Sometimes I find myself watching her from the window of our room as she begins her day swimming. I always thought that in her previous life she must have been a mermaid or a woodland fairy. Since she has been here, you can see that she is finally herself, in harmony with the nature she loves. Every corner of the estate has been enriched with plants, she has created themed areas, the garden of small fruits, the aromatic garden, the butterfly meadows, the grandmothers' medicinal herbs, the forest of hugs...

a world that is a mix of magic and alchemy. As soon as she sat down next to me, as if attracted by the Pied Piper, the children arrived, they sat in a circle, while the boys prepare dinner, the grandmother will tell one of her fantastic stories to the little ones. Needless to say, on either side she has Zeus and Bulck, the two Labradors who are her shadow.
