Property for Sale in Abruzzo

Two hours outside of Rome lies Abruzzo, Italy’s greenest region which straddles the north and south of Italy due to its expansive area.

Historically known as Abruzzi, the region is home to 1.4 million people and is renowned for its naturally rugged nature reserves and national parks. The appeal of Abruzzo is rather self-explanatory, with its hilltop villages, Medeival and Renaissance influence and extensive fauna.

November is the wettest month, but rainfall is usually limited to the mountains and surrounding areas. 

Pescara is a modern city on the Adriatic coast of Italy. It has a long seafront and is popular all-year round due to its seaside appeal and archaeological finds that date back approximately 6,000 years. Pescara is home to the region’s airport and there are a large number of lovely villages within 45 minutes’ drive of the airport. 

Spoltore is a charming hilltop village that has panoramic views across Pescara valley. It’s a lively place to live and hosts regular events for its 18,000 residents. Extremely popular with creatives and artists, Spoltore is known for its historic centre where Renaissance-style windows and crenelated towers are abundant. There are a range of townhouses available in Spoltore, with countryside views for less than €200,000. 

If you’d prefer to be among the greenery that Abruzzo is so famous for, discover Loreto Aprutino, a quiet village nestled between the coast and the Gran Sasso. It looks over a sea of olive groves and is known as the ‘City of Oil’. Properties vary in price from €55,000 for a fixer-upper to €825,000 for a large farmhouse with its own onsite vineyards.

Generally, homes in Abruzzo are more affordable compared to other Italian regions which are popular tourist spots. It’s been known to attract both local and international buyers seeking a more relaxed and less expensive lifestyle. Property prices are cheaper in Abruzzo than in Tuscany, Umbria and the Amalfi Coast.
