Between Nice and Cannes on the French Riviera lies the sunny resort town of Antibes. With properties galore and the Mediterranean Sea on its doorstep, who wouldn’t want to live in Antibes?
Antibes, often referred to as Antibes Juan-les-Pins, is a coastal city in the bottom right-hand corner of France. It’s a lively area home to people of all ages and nationalities who have moved further south to enjoy the Mediterranean climate Antibes enjoys.
In terms of location, Antibes is well connected due to Nice airport being just 15km away. From there, you can get national and international flights on a daily basis. There are buses that run regularly back and forth between Antibes town centre and the airport and they are considerably cheaper than taxis, which can be expensive, especially at night-time.
The old town in Antibes has Greek origins and ramparts that were built in the 16th century. Today, the Antibes old town is a bustling area with narrow, cobbled streets and winding paths. Around every corner you’ll find something new, from a local restaurant to a live music bar – the old town is the place to be.
Port Vauban is the famous marina in Antibes. It’s known in the yachting industry as ‘the mecca of yachting’ as it has the capacity to accommodate boats up to 160 metres long. The harbour has been in use since before the Roman Empire and is actually the largest of its kind in Europe.
Juan-les-Pins is Antibes’ seaside resort, loved by locals and tourists for its shopping, beautiful beaches, and lively nightlife. Property prices in Juan-les-Pins are typically more expensive than in the old town due to its seaside location.
Antibes is possibly most famous for Musée Picasso at the Chateau Grimaldi, where Picasso stayed in 1946. There’s also an annual jazz festival and two nearby waterparks which are great for day trips for families.
Another attraction that brings tourists to Antibes is Sophia Antipolis, Europe’s leading technology park. It’s 20 minutes from the seafront and is popular among students who study or travel to study there. Within the park there’s also a business university, SKEMA business school.
The property market in Antibes is typical of the French Riviera. There are inland apartments in the centre of town, with studios and one-bedroom flats starting at €180,000. Two-to-three-bedroom apartments on shared resorts are available from €240,000 and detached homes start at €300,000.
There is, of course, a huge market for luxury properties in Antibes. If it’s a larger property you’re after and have a sizeable budget, we have a range of top-tier villas and homes, in Antibes – particularly on the cap d’Antibes from €1,000,000 and up.
