Overseas buyers absolutely adore the Algarve. Its wonderful combination of sunshine, seaside and golf has enticed many to purchase a home there. But what kind of property can you purchase in the Algarve? From beachfront to budget-friendly homes, we look at superb examples. 

In 2023, the Algarve was the most popular spot for overseas buyers to purchase their dream home. According to the National Statistics Institute in Portugal, in 2023, buyers with a tax residence outside of Portugal, mainly purchased property in the Algarve (29.9%), followed by the North (17.5%) and Greater Lisbon.

We are not surprised. Year after year, the Algarve continues to charm foreign buyers. It boasts of 300 days of sunshine a year, making it absolutely perfect for golfers. Plus, the Algarve is home to beautiful Blue Flag beaches and natural parks, including Ria Formosa and Costa Vicentina. Flights from Faro airport to the UK and the rest of Europe are regular, with great transport links to the nearest towns, which is super convenient if you’re hoping to pop to your Algarve property as often as you can.

But what kind of property can you purchase in the Algarve?

The property market in the Algarve is vast. From doer-uppers to golfing apartments to luxury villas, the choice is as varied as it is exciting. Here, we are going to look through the some of the different types of property you can purchase in the Algarve, for what price.
