From the winding Venice canals to the rolling Tuscan hills, buyers in Italy are truly spoilt for choice of when it comes to choosing a location.

Of course, each buyer has their own motivations, perhaps they’re looking to be closer to family, take up a new hobby or be able to truly appreciate the world’s favourite cuisine[i], however, we can assume that there are a few key considerations holiday home buyers will share.

They include:

  • Travel connections: How far is the nearest airport or highway? Is it easily accessible?
  • Local beauties: Is there a national park nearby, a notable beach?
  • Rental yields: If you plan to rent out your holiday home, you might want to consider local rental yields.
  • Your budget: It should go without saying that you should only consider locations within your budget to avoid heartbreak later down the line.

With these considerations in mind, I’ve handpicked five gorgeous areas across Italy and its islands that would make a fine holiday home location.
